Donations Financial donations to Stone Soup are the most useful, because they allow us to buy what we need when we need it. Donations of boxed, canned, or frozen food and produce are also welcome. (Sorry, health laws prevent us from accepting "windfall"fruit or food prepared in an uncertified kitchen.)

Volunteering Stone Soup is always looking for people to help out, either regularly or as substitutes. Kitchen work is generally a 2-3 hour commitment. If you are interested in being a cook, server, dishwasher, or cleanup/close person, please e-mail Mindi Thornton at stonesouphelp@yahoo.com.

    See current volunteer opportunities.

The History of Stone Soup Kitchen In 1982 a group of concerned parishioners at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Corvallis, Oregon established a soup kitchen to assist people in need of meals.

From the small group who served one meal a week, Stone Soup has expanded to over one hundred volunteers, who serve seven days a week to the many who are now in need of food. This group of volunteers includes members of many faith communities and OSU student organizations, as well as members of the community at large.
