Who is Clarity?

Clarity is Brian B. Egan, whose unique combination of engineering and human-relations experience provides a holistic approach to resolving today's business problems.

Brian gained extensive practical experience in organizational evolution during 26 years with Hewlett-Packard Company. This time included 18 years as a project manager specializing in training, communication, and process improvement, and five years as an internal organization development and management consultant.

Brian's breadth is demonstrated by this small sampling from his many successes:

• Co-designing and co-leading a Future Search Conference for the whole-system change of a 300-person organization.
• Providing leadership coaching and leading problem-solving sessions in a four-person medical office.
• Designing and facilitating an international organization design meeting for a major global department of a Fortune 500 company.
• Designing and facilitating a five-day-and-night teambuilding and skill-building offsite for an international virtual team.
• Pro bono, working with executives and boards of three national charities to help them improve their leadership skills, collaboration, and internal communication.
• Leading an 18-month global process-standardization project.
• Designing and implementing a large intranet global knowledge repository web site, basing the work on extensive international research of user needs.

In addition to his organization development skills, Brian is a Certified Professional Facilitator, accredited by the International Association of Facilitators (IAF). Brian is a trained mediator and a member of the Oregon Mediation Association — on a pro bono basis, he mediates Small Claims Court cases for Benton and Linn Counties, Oregon. Brian also is a Business Advisor for the Business Development Center of Linn-Benton Community College.

Having lived in England for four years and Germany for two years, and having worked within global virtual teams, Brian is sensitive to international and cross-cultural issues. This experience can help organizations to avoid the pitfalls that accompany a global presence and to make the most of a diverse workforce. (While Clarity is based in Corvallis, Oregon, Brian considers the entire world a potential client base, and is delighted to work in other geographies.)

Brian holds a Master of Science in Organization Development (MSOD) from Pepperdine University (the top-rated OD program in the world) and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from San Jose State University. He has completed a mediation certification course from Oregon State University, and has numerous certificates for management, technical, and non-technical courses.

Brian is a member of the Organization Development Institute, which certifies him as a Registered Organization Development Professional (RODP). He is also a member of the leadership team of the Oregon Organization Development Network. Brian is a seven-year veteran of the US Air Force.
